I’ve been a fan of Countlan for a while now; it’s a gorgeous quarterly digital publication that explores the way people eat and entertain around the world. After reading a few issues online, I contacted the lovely Sarah, who captains the Countlan boat, to find out if there might be any opportunities to work with them. Needless to say, I was over the moon when I heard back from Sarah; she wanted to start with an interview about the cookbook I put together few years ago.
Given that I’m no professional chef or author, and this book was quite simply a passion project I put together in my spare time, it was really humbling (and exciting) to have it noticed and appreciated by someone like Sarah. That’s the reason I’m such a big fan of Countlan; they’re not about the hottest new celebrity chef openings in the biggest cities in the world, they’re about the small and unknown, about promoting the real and authentic, the humble and down to earth, to give a genuine cross-cultural perspective of what real people are like around the world.
